Hawaiian Airlines is currently running a contest on the theme of sharing aloha. Per their website: “In the literal sense, “aloha” means hello, goodbye, or love and affection, but also represents a way of life – treating others with love, care, kindness and respect; living in harmony and spreading this lifestyle with the world.” So in honor of aloha and sharing, posting some photos from our last Hawaii trip, land of our first born’s namesake.

After the mix of adrenaline and oxytocin and euphoria wore off, one of the first things that came to mind after the birth of each of my daughters was the lyrics by Stevie Wonder: “Isn’t she lovely, made from love.” My heart is always so full of awe and gratitude when I remember this, that out of love, my husband and I made two beautiful humans. But that was, in some ways, the easy part. For the rest of our lives we are charged with nurturing these souls. Motherhood is my greatest aloha challenge. To show through my words, thoughts, and actions how to share aloha. To show love by how I treat your father and sister, to show kindness by how I treat strangers, to show respect by how I treat mother earth.
